Miranda has been drawn to performance since a very young age, and has always had a fascination with costuming and its ability to transform one’s character. Born Miranda Barrie, the great, great, great niece of J.M. Barrie - playwright and author of 'Peter Pan' - it's no surprise that the stage was always so alluring to her.
After training in musical theatre, Jazz and Ballet as a child, and developing her own unique sense of style and costuming through her teens (making her own clothes patterns from age 12), she was instantly attracted to the emerging burlesque scene in London in the early 2000s. The very first burlesque act Miranda saw was none other than Dita Von Teese (at an intimate album launch party in London) and inspiration hit like a lightening bolt. Next, she sought out the now legendary Whoopee! Club, where her distinctive look instantly caught the eye of the club producers and performers. After making friends with many regular cast members, they encouraged her to take part in a ‘Tableau Vivant’ performance – a living picture – and after that, to start putting her own routines together, which she took to with a passion. At just 17, Miranda was a very early starter to burlesque performance, giving her a rare and extremely valuable level of experience – over a decade’s worth.
Miranda is not a model turned performer - her modeling career was born from her on stage exposure. Her years of performance experience give her a distinct edge as a model - she has a powerful ability to express vastly varied roles and personalities, while her skill in costume, makeup and styling enable her to create fantastic looks without the help of stylists. Retro and fetish culture are Miranda's way of life, and her passion for them runs through every aspect of her work. Her love for these style genres has enabled her to amass an astonishing collection of extreme high heels, corsetry, full fashioned stockings, latex and more, giving her near endless styling options for shoots and event appearances.
Performing on the side while completing her degree at London's prestigious Chelsea College of Art, Miranda began to travel more and more for show bookings (Milan, Madrid, Moscow and more) she soon fell in love with the United States, where she had visited regularly as a child, being one quarter American. In 2013 she became one of the first ever burlesque performers to be granted an O-1 'extraordinary ability' visa to perform in the US, and ultimately made the move to Los Angeles in 2015. Immediately invited into the cast of the city's renowned Tease If You Please burlesque show, followed by residencies at Tarantina, Desperada and Voss Events; continued international headliner bookings and high profile modeling work for Moschino, Playboy and Honey Birdette, Miranda has quickly become established as one of the most desirable burlesque performers around.
To date, Miranda has performed globally across five continents. Exploring the world is one of the most rewarding parts of her career.
Miranda is originally from London, England - now based in Los Angeles, California.
